Inside a building, air pressure can be lower than outside. And If gaps between the outside and inside, air can pass through them, bringing water with it. Air seals will obstruct that air flow.
Air Seal: Why do you need it?
Where you have used air penetrable cladding material, the wall construction must include an air seal to prevent the flow of air from the exterior into the building.
Air flow can also occur around holes or insertions through windows, pipe penetrations and doors. That’s why you should fit an air seal between the outer exterior of a wall and the window or door frame.
Air seals are an integral element in keeping your cladding system weather tight.
